Component Removal And Management

Even an end-of-life aircraft is made up of components which can be sold and reused if serviceable. We inspect, certify (under our Part 145 certification), remove, clean, protect, store, and ship components
Depending on customer requirements and the desired residual value, we can classify and handle components in the following ways:

Highest residual value

Components requiring full recertification and documentation i.e. 8130-3, Part 145 CRS RTS documentation. These components are removed and sent out to vendors for full overhaul.

Mid-level residual value

Components requiring limited recertification and documentation i.e. 8130-3 with limitations listed in block 12, Part 145 CRS limited repair documentation. These components will be able to be inspected, tested, and documented by Hondo Aerospace prior to disabling the aircraft functionally. These components are given a limited 8130-3 approval tag with work accomplished in block 12 (limited release only), once certification is acquired.

Lowest level of residual value

Components "Serviceable as Removed". These components are inspected or functionally checked and are removed as such. They can also include structural components that are within the CRS limitations for a Return To Service, such as panels. These components require the least of amount of investment, and do not get an 8130-3 form. Instead, they are issued with a Certificate Repair Station (CRS) tag.

Aircraft Disassembly and Recycling

We love planes and the environment in equal measures. We're dedicated to promoting environmental best practices for end-of-life aircraft.

Aircraft is disassembled and components are removed in a safe, sustainable manner.
Components can then be

inspected and catalogued for tracking and documentation by part and serial number.
stored at our facility, or
shipped to any location.

The remaining aircraft hull is sectioned into smaller pieces for shipment to a local recycling facility.
All hazardous material is captured and contained for green recycling.

Aircraft Storage and Parking

Whether your aircraft needs a short vacation or a long term stay, it will find Hondo Aerospace to be the perfect destination.

Our facilities include over 1,000,000 sq. ft. of concrete ramp space for parking, and additional hangar space for servicing aircraft. The dry climate conditions in Hondo, Texas make it an ideal location for the short-term storage of aircraft. Preservation is carried out with great care and attention to reduce the effects of exposure to the outside environment. Our goal is to preserve the integrity of the aircraft to allow a quick return to service. We have room to park up to 115+ narrow-body or wide-body aircraft in different combinations.

Hondo Aerospace is an FAA/EASA/BERMUDA/CAYMAN-approved Part 145 Repair Station for Return-to-Service Maintenance, Bridging, and Light Maintenance. Our skilled technicians are qualified to work on a wide range of aircraft types and we provide seamless support from start to finish with an emphasis on quality and safety.
